One of our parents, Darlene Baker, submitted the Penny Harvest student leaders for consideration and they were selected.  Thanks, Darlene!  Thanks, EHB student leaders for doing this important charitable work!

Teacher & Staff Recognition Week – Retiring Staff Recognition Night

May 7, 2012 by dysupt

Annually, the first week of May is a time to say thank you to our dedicated Dennis-Yarmouth School District staff  for their contributions to the education of our children.  Each staff member is part of the school team and makes a difference by giving of themselves in their daily work.  On behalf of the students of the district I want to thank our staff for all they do to make a difference in the lives of our youth.

Tonight the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee will recognize the years of service of this year’s retirees.  There will be a short reception from 6:00-6:30 in the Station Avenue Cafeteria.  At 6:30, School Committee Chair Angelone will convene the meeting followed by a short recognition ceremony for our retirees.  Please join us in congratulating them on collectively serving the district and our children for over 250 years!

This poem is offered as thanks and recognition of the Home-School partnership that is so critical to a child’s success.  The author is unknown.

 Whose Child Is This?

“Whose child is this?” I asked one day

Seeing a little one out at play

“Mine,” said the parent with a tender smile

“Mine to keep a little wile

To bathe his hands and comb his hair

To tell him what he is to wear

To prepare him that he may always be good

And each day do the things he should”

“Whose child is this?” I asked again

As the door opened and someone came in

“Mine,” said the teacher with the same tender smile

“Mine, to keep just a little while

To teach him how to be gentle and kind

To train and direct his dear little mind

To help him live by every rule

And get the best he can from school”

“Whose child is this?” I asked once more

Just as the little one entered the door

“Ours,” said the parent and the teacher as they smiled

And each took the hand of the little child

“Ours to love and train together

Ours this blessed task forever.”
